Awards
Group chairman Peter Wickens and staff collect the
Best Big Company Award at London's Battersea Evolution on 28
February 2008
From 8th and 11th place in the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For Survey, in the last two years, to Best Technical Advisor at the Public Private Finance Awards 2007, and three Queen’s Awards for international performance (1998; 1996; 2004) – the awards we’ve received in recognition of our achieve-ments come in many forms.
One of our recent wins comes from the 2007 BE Awards of Excellence, for Civil Engineering Visualization and Simulation. Often referred to as the ‘engineering oscars’, due to the sheer scale of categories involved, this contest is truly global, with nominees from Australia, USA, China, India, South Africa, Brazil and most of the EU.
Another of our prestigious prize-winners is the new Manchester Civil Justice Centre, which was honoured as the Green Major Project of the Year in the Green Construction Awards 2007. Since its opening in October 2007, the building's sustainable design has been recognised via a range of awards including the Rose Design Awards' Best Public Building Gold Award.
We’re equally proud of our team’s professional achievements – from Alistair Hitchcock winning the engineering category of the 2008 Construction’s Future Leaders Awards, to Richard McGowan being awarded with the Institution of Civil Engineering’s Mentor of the year Award, to Ian Flower being awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Honours list for services to civil engineering.
All these successes, we believe, come thanks to our people’s ingenuity and dedication and our customer’s teamwork and support.
