Why did you choose to do your apprenticeship with Mott MacDonald?
The reason I chose to do an apprenticeship with Mott MacDonald is because it allows me to learn theoretical knowledge and work based skills that prepare me for a career in civil engineering. It also allows me to work on interesting projects with people who understand the industry. Another benefit of the apprenticeship is that it enables you to get an EngTech qualification.
What is the best thing about your apprenticeship?
The best thing about the apprenticeship is having the opportunity to work on the different projects within the office.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Mott MacDonald encourages you to further develop your career. Since starting I have been assigned a SCE and DE who I meet up with on a regular basis. I’ve also had the opportunity to attend a few training courses.
What project are you currently working on?
I have been working on various projects such as the Manchester Metrolink second city crossing and the Queen’s Road tram stop. The majority of my work involves assisting in producing CAD drawings. As part of my apprenticeship I am being rotated around the office every 6 months so that I get an understanding of the different disciplines and projects that are being worked on.
What do you enjoy doing while away from the office?
I regularly participate in a range of sports; my favourite being football.
If you could have any super power what would it be and why?
I would love to be able to pause time. It would be fun and useful when you just need a minute.
