Mott MacDonald supports delivery of NHS Nightingale

Mott MacDonald has been supporting NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I) to deliver the NHS Nightingale Hospital in London, UK. The consultancy has been providing technical, engineering and project management services with its project partner Archus for the temporary healthcare facility. As part of this, Mott MacDonald has also been working with Transport for London (TfL) to deliver mission critical transport for NHS staff and contractors.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital in London is Britain’s first coronavirus field hospital and will treat thousands of people affected by Covid-19 in the 4000-bed facility. It has been constructed within the ExCel arena in the capital’s Docklands area in the space of two weeks.

Archus and Mott MacDonald have been working with NHSE/I and the various other supply chain partners to deliver the NHS Nightingale Hospital. This has focussed around the non-clinical areas and supporting infrastructure including non-clinical flows, access, emergency vehicle movements, accommodation and other external and surrounding infrastructure. Mott MacDonald has also worked with TfL to ensure NHS staff and contractors can easily travel from the ExCel to dedicated parking sites and hotels in preparation of clinical services opening.
