The Randstad 380kV Noordring Zuidelijke Ringvaart-Bleiswijk extension to TenneT's 380kV high voltage grid is required to guarantee reliable energy delivery and meet future transmission demand.
The project is being delivered through a design and construct contract awarded to BAM. This has involved engineering, detailed design and construction of 122 tower foundations in 61 locations, installation of 10km of high voltage cables (150kV and 380kV), several horizontal directional drillings and the removal of 30 traditional 150kV towers and their foundations. In addition, BAM will be responsible for the construction, management and maintenance of all temporary and final access roads and construction sites, and the coordination of contractors delivering the towers and overhead cables.
We've been carrying out stakeholder and permit management, which play an important role in this project to keep disturbance during construction to a minimum. This has involved timely submission of information and required permit requests and management of communication with the authorities involved and other stakeholders. We're responsible for coordinating third parties' existing cables and pipelines including temporary diversions, for communications with cable operators and for monitoring terrain before and after construction for the settlement of agreements with private owners. The Randstad Noordring is due to become operational by the end of 2017.
