Why join Mott MacDonalds’ Early Career Professionals program in East Asia?

The Early Career Professionals (ECP) program entails a range of learning activities to support your journey as an ECP. This is designed to supplement your on-the-job training and learning that is essential for your career development.

Your development

You will get to participate in regular feedback and development conversations with your line manager to set goals and discuss your individual learning needs. We provide opportunities to connect and collaborate with a network of local, regional, and global technical experts to deepen your knowledge and domain expertise. We provide support for professional accreditation and charterships, and scholarship funds if you choose to further your education post-graduation.

Formal learning

A structured development program with learning milestones is designed for our ECPs that will speed up the rate of your development and competence. This includes:

  • Onboarding workshops on various topics like career planning advice, as well as talks by subject matter experts.
  • The Festival of Wild Ideas event where ECPs from the East Asia unit and across the region collaborate in groups to solve a business problem using creative ideas. This is a chance to be innovative and develop your skills.
  • Mentorship that helps you to gain confidence and develop new perspectives in your field.
  • A learning management system where you can self-enrol into courses (in-person/virtual).
  • Self-paced learning pathways such as the Renewable Energy Academy.

ECP committee

This is a committee of ECPs who initiate professional development and networking activities to enhance the ECP experience.

What kind of person are you looking for?

We are seeking people with drive, reliability, creativity, and the willingness to continually learn. We embrace people with diverse views, who can contribute different skills and knowledge to the workplace to support positive business outcomes and promote our values. The quality of our people is a vital asset, and we are constantly on the lookout for talented and self-motivated graduates who have the ability and confidence to thrive in a dynamic and innovative environment.

How do I apply and what is the recruitment process?

There are various ways to apply:

  1. Apply directly through our website or our job posting on your university career portal.
  2. Talk to our representatives at a career fair.

The recruitment process begins when you submit your CV. Your CV will be initially reviewed and if you meet the necessary criteria, you may receive a phone call inviting you the interview stage – there may be more than one interview. If you successfully pass the interview stage you will be offered the role. You will then need to complete some documentation so that we can undertake required checks, and once you pass this stage you will agree a start date with your line manager.

What package do you offer?

We offer very competitive salary and package arrangements as well as benefits which include:

  • Salary reviews every six months for your first three years

  • Regular connections with your peers and technical experts locally and regionally
  • The opportunity to have a career mentor and be supported in developing your breadth of knowledge and skills in your chosen discipline

Do you offer a relocation package when I join?

Not usually as we try to hire local graduates where possible.

Can you help with a certification, registration or license for my discipline?

Yes, we support our ECPs who wish to gain professional accreditation in your relevant discipline, be it engineering, planning, surveying, project management, human resource, finance or any other field.

What opportunities are there to travel?

Depending on the business and project needs, overseas opportunities for short-term and long-term assignments may be considered.
