John Peabody, who retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers as a major general in 2015, commanded three different corps divisions. As Deputy Commanding General for civil and emergency operations, he was responsible for an annual program with a budget of $6 billion. In a letter confirming the appointment, Brigadier General Joseph Schroeder (ret.) said, “We are privileged to have the benefit of your well known talents and your professional commitment to our nation, our profession and to SAME.”
According to Schroeder, “The establishment of the SAME Foundation is a major step toward achieving the 2020 SAME Strategic Plan goals and objectives. We now have an enormous opportunity to support the development of the next generation of military, government civilian, and A/E/C industry leaders.”
