Creating the transport network
As project manager for Manchester Airport’s £50
million multi-modal transport interchange we led the overall
procurement and programming advice for the engineering team on the
feasibility and designAt Mott MacDonald we have a strong
commitment to providing sustainable transport strategies and
develop-ment proposals of the highest quality. A key aspect of this
is the regeneration of existing sites in urban areas. We have worked with both local authorities and property develop-ers to identify redevelopment sites and the appropriate land uses as part of the initial feasibility and concept plans for regeneration opportunities.
With ever more emphasis on encouraging use of public transport, access for bus, rail and cycle is a crucial aspect of any regenerat-ion scheme. Mott MacDonald has experience in preparing trans-port impact assessments (TIA) to help assess the potential for modal transfer in line with today’s increasing drive to reduce dependence on the private car. Integral to this process is the preparation of green transport plans in which our teams have a wide range of expertise.
Mott MacDonald has established transport working groups and forums to develop a clear understanding of all the key issues and develop support for proposals. With sites varying from major mixed use developments to single use plots, studies cover the full range of land use developments including residential, retail, industry, warehousing, business parks, all forms of leisure, power stations and hotels.
