Planning the future
We project managed a team of consultants on a major
urban planning and regeneration initiative for Kidbrooke in south
London, based on the mixed use redevelopment of a 1970s council
housing estateOne of the most fundamental components of
regenerating an urban environment is to understand the components
of the area and identify the opportunities available to activate
the regeneration process. Key issues include connectivity between buildings and spaces, access to the area from another public open space amenity, commercial activity, sustainable community facilities and housing density.
Mott MacDonald has a dedicated team of town planners who are conversant in the planning techniques involved in dealing with these issues. The team has worked with some of the best urban designers, landscape architects and master planners in the UK and has a detailed understanding of the Town & Country Planning Act, property acquisition processes and legal agreements to activate the regeneration process – all of which play an equally important role in either restricting or enabling urban regeneration.
The close working relationship between our town planners and environmental specialists ensures that the interface between planning and environmental issues is always taken into account from day one of a project.
