Mott MacDonald has been appointed by GreenPower (Carraig Gheal) Limited as technical advisor and engineer under a International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) contract for the design and construction of an £80 million wind farm. The 46MW project will be located in Argyll in Scotland.

The Carraig Gheal wind farm is being developed to increase the amount of power generated in the west of the country. As FIDIC engineer, Mott MacDonald will review the contractor’s civil designs which cover foundations, masts, roads and the control building.

Mott MacDonald’s project director Ian Baird, said: “Wind turbines are the fastest growing of the renewable energy technologies in Scotland and this project will significantly help increase the amount of renewable energy generated in the region.”

“Mott MacDonald has engineered over 100GW of power plants around the world, going back to our first major projects in the late 1890s.”
