Oman

Al Masserat, OmanAs consultant for Oman’s Al Masarrat water supply scheme, our role included detailed design, tender documentation and construction supervision of a total water supply systemWe have been operating in Oman for over 30 years providing engineering services to clients in Oman and elsewhere in the oil and gas, petrochemical, power, water, buildings, environment and infrastructure sectors.

Our presence in Oman as a leading engineering consultancy organisation and the long term contracts with major clients in Oman – especially Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Oman LNG and Oman Gas Company – ensures steady project work.

Over the years, we have also been involved with major international clients such as Occidental of Oman Inc, PTTEP Middle East Company Ltd and Oman Petrochemical Industries.

Oil and gas

We’re maximising the output of oil reservoirs using a range of enhanced oil recovery techniques. In Oxy’s Mukhaizna field, we’re injecting steam through fractures in the rock containing the reservoir. This reduces the oil’s viscosity, allowing it to drain into horizontal production wells at the bottom of the reservoir. The new facility doubled total oil production to 150,000 barrels per day.

Following the huge success of our US$1 billion, five year engineering, procurement and construction management framework contract with PDO, we were awarded two seven year contracts for ‘off plot delivery’. We aim to build on our safety record as PDO’s best performing partner with a record of over 2 million man hours worked without a lost time accident to date.

For Oman Gas Company, Mott MacDonald project managed the Mina Al Fahal to Sohar crude oil pipeline. The 24" diameter, 260km long pipeline transports crude oil from the Oman refinery located at Mina Al Fahal to the Sohar refinery.

Water supply

For the Public Authority for Electricity and Water, we are helping design and supervise construction of a new water supply scheme for Qurayat and neighbouring villages, including a 10,000cu/day reverse osmosis desalination plant, transmission pipelines, reservoirs, pumping stations and distribution systems.

We are also aiding the client in developing an all-weather pipeline between Al Amirat and the Wadi Aday pump station in Muscat, where sections of the existing water supply pipeline had been washed out from cyclonic weather and heavy rainfall.

Power

We’re working on the new Sur independent combined cycle power project in Oman which will be among the most efficient in the world. Among other key projects, we've been helping with the design, construction supervision and project management for a 132/33kV grid station with 125MVA transformers in Muscat, and for a 220/33kV grid station at Mussana Interconnect Substation.

We were employer’s engineer for the 1GW Sohar Aluminium Power Plant powering Sohar Aluminium’s new smelter, providing project management and engineering services from inception to hand-over. The project had an impressive safety record: nearly 10 million man-hours were worked without a lost time incident.
