This state-of-the-art facility for oral dosage preparation comprised clean manufacturing areas, utility and support areas, warehousing and office facilities with a total floor area, over four floors, of 28,000m². The building is an unbraced steel frame for maximum flexibility and given its location in a highly sensitive area in Cork Harbour, it is designed to maximise value for the occupants and to integrate with the landscape.
The development included substantial earthworks and underground services together with a major upgrade of the wastewater treatment facility plus:
Four-storey tabletting building including 23,000m² of warehouse and manufacturing areas containing 9000m² of clean room, and 5,000m² offices and laboratories. This steel framed building is clad with coated steel architectural panels and glazed curtain walling.
Four-storey CB2 building for bulk manufacturing - also steel framed and incorporates blast relief panels in the external cladding
The Pfizer tabletting plant won the Association of Consulting Engineers Ireland award for structural excellence.
