Learning Unlimited, Scotland’s best known provider of learning opportunities for adults involved in education, has joined Cambridge Education, the education arm of management, development and engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald.
Based in Paisley, Learning Unlimited believes that our potential for learning is much greater than commonly recognised and that effective teachers help children take responsibility for their own learning. The company runs a series of school-based courses, produces a range of publications and materials on children’s learning and is continually developing new materials on self-motivation for children and young people, active learning and creativity in primary and early years. Since its establishment in 1998, Learning Unlimited – which operates mainly in Scotland and also delivers courses in Northern Ireland, Guernsey and New Jersey, USA – has worked with more than 40 000 teachers around the UK.
Both companies believe that joining forces will bring benefits to staff and customers alike. Richard Birch, managing director of Cambridge Education, believes that Learning Unlimited will bring an added dimension to Cambridge Education’s existing team. “Learning Unlimited’s consultancy expertise and its range of publications will help us expand the range of services we can provide to both schools and local authorities throughout the UK and world-wide.”
Learning Unlimited director Michael Burke is equally enthusiastic about the opportunities joining Cambridge Education will bring. “With the backing of a financially strong partner, we can develop new learning and teaching materials and bring our existing products to a wider market. We will also use the potential of joining with Cambridge Education to develop further into the early years and further education sectors.
