Mott MacDonald opens new office in the Western Balkans

Mott MacDonald has opened a new office in Serbia as part of its expansion plans for the Western Balkans. The official launch of Mott MacDonald’s Belgrade office was held at the residence of H.E. Mr Stephen Wordsworth, British Ambassador to Serbia, on 16 September 2010.

H.E Mr Stephen Wordsworth gave a warm welcoming speech which was followed by a presentation about Mott MacDonald delivered by Group board director, Richard Williams.

More than 120 people attended the launch including officials from various government ministries, clients, local partners as well as other key players in the region. In addition, several Mott MacDonald staff from the UK, the Netherlands and neighbouring countries visited Belgrade for this special opportunity to meet existing and potential clients.

Maja Rejger, Mott MacDonald’s country manager said: “This is a significant move for Mott MacDonald, demonstrating our commitment to the Western Balkans. We started working from the new office in February of this year and have already submitted a number of Expressions of Interest and proposals as well as delivered on our first projects.”

The new office in Belgrade will provide services to Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Maja continued, “At the moment we are mainly focused on providing services to international funding bodies such as the European Union, EIB, EBRD and the World Bank. In the near future we hope to be able to become a key local player, offering our full range of services to both local and international clients in the region.”

At the opening, Richard Williams commented: “Mott MacDonald’s Serbia operation is part of the company’s strategy to develop offices that will help better support our clients in the Balkans and indeed Europe. As part of this expansion, over the last twelve months we have also opened offices in Albania and Turkey. We aim to offer our clients the full offering of our professional services portfolio from design, research, project and business management to risk analysis across most infrastructure sectors – power, water and environment, health and education, communications, institutional development, buildings and transportation.”
