Join our webcast: Using a Business PMO to improve UK healthcare delivery - 19 January, 14.30 GMT

Mott MacDonald management consultant Kevin Corry is speaking in a webcast alongside Gary James from NHS Lincolnshire on how our work to establish a business Project Management Office (PMO) is assisting with the NHS QIPP (Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention) challenge. Our Health team is helping NHS Lincolnshire increase visibility across its entire portfolio of service improvements and contracts, improve the processes by which they are managed and increase visibility of activity for the organisation’s Executive team.

The webcast will be of interest to any organisation wishing to ensure that complex change is appropriately managed, appropriate provider and supplier contracts are operating optimally, value is being delivered from investments made, and corporate memory is preserved and transferred as organisations change form and function. The challenges addressed will be of interest to UK and international audiences from within and beyond healthcare.

Part of the UK’s National Health Service, NHS Lincolnshire is responsible for facilitating healthcare access for a population of over 730,000 people. Gary James, Director of Informatics at NHS Lincolnshire, will discuss how his organisation established a PMO to manage the business change required to maintain – and even improve – the quality of healthcare delivery while simultaneously cutting costs. Gary will be supported by Kevin Corry, Management Consultant at Mott MacDonald, whose team has been supporting NHS Lincolnshire in defining and implementing the PMO.

Learn how the PMO is helping NHS Lincolnshire:

  • Increase governance of its £1.2 billion portfolio in annual contract allotments
  • Ensure coordination and consistency across inter-departmental service improvement initiatives
  • Report progress against the strategic targets of the National Health Service’s QIPP framework
  • Implement standard project management processes and metrics across the organisation
  • Use PowerSteering’s portfolio management software for programme planning, management and reporting

Applicable audiences

This webcast will be of interest to any organisation wishing to ensure that complex change is being appropriately managed, appropriate provider and supplier contracts are operating optimally, value is being delivered from investments made, and corporate memory is preserved and can be transferred, in whole or part, as organisations change form and function. This is not just a healthcare, or indeed a UK organisational challenge. The target audience for this webcast is:

  • National Health Service SHA and PCT executives and management involved in the planning, management and delivery of the goals of QIPP
  • Local government executives and management involved in the commissioning of services and the management of contracts
  • Public and private sector organisations domestically and internationally that are managing complex change programmes and/or large portfolios of high-value business investments
  • Any organisations/departments that are subject to significant and rapid change in form, function or ownership, and need to pass on their corporate memory to successor bodies
