Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I joined Mott MacDonald as I was looking for a new challenge and was keen to progress my career. I decided at that point that I wanted to progress within the field of transport planning and having worked client-side, wanted to work with a quality, well-respected consultant. It was an easy decision to join Mott MacDonald!
What is the best thing about your role?
I get to experience and learn from different cultures by working in places and with people I wouldn’t have expected to work with – my role has provided a lot of variety!
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
The culture at Mott MacDonald is very supportive. People from all levels place a lot of emphasis on me and others in my team to achieve our potential and provide constant challenges through project experience. It is recognised and demonstrated that the greatest asset to Mott MacDonald is the people who work for it.
How has your career progressed at Mott MacDonald?
I joined Mott MacDonald nearly five years ago with only a couple of years experience in the industry. With hard work, my career has progressed substantially and more significantly than if I hadn’t joined Mott MacDonald. Within those five years, I have moved from a graduate role in Croydon, UK to leading a transport planning team in our growing business in Sydney, Australia. I am managing innovative, world-leading travel demand management projects. Who knows where I’ll be in the next five years
What makes Mott MacDonald stand out from other companies?
Access to quality staff, worldwide! No matter where I’ve worked, the ease at which we can call on any number of our 16,000 staff worldwide to maximise the outcomes of our work is always seen as a standout benefit.
What has been your favourite Mott MacDonald social event?
The annual ten-pin bowling ‘championships’ in Croydon. It’s great to see so many people from Mott MacDonald turn up to take over the 24 lanes for one evening. It’s a very laid-back event (for most) and brilliantly organised. Plus it’s even better as you know other people from across the business volunteer to run events at other locations and get similar take-up – where else can you see how your ten-pin bowling skills compare on a global scale!
Where is your favourite place?
Tamarama Bay in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. A great beach with epic waves and set within scenic cliffs. The beach of choice and beautiful in all weathers.
What is your hidden talent?
I am the Croydon ten-pin bowling champion 2016. I forget how many points I scored now, but it was more than the person in second place!
What inspires you at work?
I get to work among a great set of talented people. What I can learn and contribute keeps me going!
