Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I had previously interviewed at Mott MacDonald for a temporary role during my time at University and at the time decided not to take up the post. In hindsight I realised that this was the wrong decision, and so after graduating, when I then saw another advert for a role that I was interested in at Mott MacDonald I knew I couldn’t miss another opportunity to join the company.
What is the best thing about your role?
The best thing about my role is the variety; no two days are the same and this allows me to constantly build upon my HR knowledge.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Despite the size of the organisation you feel like you are a part of something and everyone you come across is friendly and approachable.
How do you feel your career has progressed while working at Mott MacDonald?
My career has definitely progressed while working at Mott MacDonald. Within 18 months of joining I had progressed into a new role, from learning and development administrator to a broader role as human resources assistant, before securing a promotion to human resources advisor in July 2016. I also had the opportunity to be seconded into a different business unit for a two month period to gain a broader insight in to the organisation and develop my HR knowledge in other areas.
How have you been supported during your career development?
I have been given the opportunity to move into a broader HR role as a result of support from my previous team and have now been given the support to study for my post-graduate diploma in human resources management so I can continue to progress in my career.
What has been your favourite Mott MacDonald social event?
I am enrolled on the Mott MacDonald Academy which is a soft skills development programme for entry level professionals and the kick off event is a residential weekend with around 60 other entry level colleagues. This has been my favourite social event as it enabled me to network with other entry level colleagues across the EUNA region as well as the senior staff that came along.
Where is your favourite place?
My favourite place would have to be Hoi An in Vietnam, it is a beautiful place with a really relaxed atmosphere and great food – what more could you want?!
What inspires you about your work?
I am responsible for delivering welcome presentations to new starters which has required me to know more about the work that we do so that I can pass this on to our new employees and I have been inspired by the huge diversity and impact of our projects.
