Why did you choose to join Mott MacDonald?
I basically joined Mott MacDonald due to the reputation it had and from feedback I’d received from people working here. Mott MacDonald was a leading firm in the field I wanted to work in, and after joining I could understand why.
What is the best thing about your job/role?
Variety – no job, project or even day, is the same. I’m always busy and always challenged on a daily basis.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Collaboration and team work is key for success and this is a key part of the culture here. Being employee owned does mean that there is a greater focus on working together for mutual success.
How has your career developed at Mott MacDonald?
I joined as a graduate with only a year of experience from a previous firm. Since then I’ve worked as a part of a team on a variety of projects in the UK and overseas, and my career has continued to develop. I’ve had opportunities to work on site, travel overseas and had the support and experience in order to get chartered. I’m now in a position where I’m managing teams and projects and representing the firm at industry competitions and conferences.
When you’re not in the office where can you be found?
My main interests are film and music, so outside work I can probably be found at either a cinema or at a range of gigs. Recently I had the chance to go to a music festival in Iceland, which led to me being able to see a few bands at fairly close quarters (and a chance to explore some of the local scenery as well).
What is a random fact about you?
My random fact is always that I’m a keen follower of Tranmere Rovers Football Club, which enables me to keep in touch with where I come from. I’ve had some happy moments with Tranmere over the years and plenty more unhappy ones. They’re always good for a laugh (usually unintentional) if nothing else!
