Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I previously came from a large organisation working in graduate recruitment but wanted to go to an organisation that would give me more scope to develop and offer a variety in the role, I felt that Mott MacDonald would do just that!
What is the best thing about your role?
I thoroughly enjoy giving good news to candidates that they have successfully secured a role at Mott MacDonald. The excitement you hear from some of the candidates is just amazing. Also, knowing that the business is pleased with those they have joining, I always want to offer the best service to the business and external stakeholders.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Very friendly, I work with so many different people from across the business at different levels and everyone is so down to earth and very helpful. Work life balance is key for me being a mum and I find that people are very supportive.
What have you found out about Mott MacDonald since you joined?
I joined Mott MacDonald just over a year ago and found that the business is very complex, things are constantly changing but that’s what keeps my role exciting, and I enjoy adapting to the business' needs!
What makes Mott MacDonald stand out from other companies?
Definitely the people! There is such a friendly culture, which may be due to us being an employee-owned business that employees really invest their time and effort in to. We enjoy what we do which definitely shows. The company is large so there is always scope and opportunities to develop and grow within the organisation.
Are you involved with any charities or do any volunteer work?
I am part of a family-run charity called JHLOF (Jamaica Hospital League of Friends). I am involved in supporting events and going to talks throughout the year to raise money for the charity. The main event I love is the dinner and dance we hold in October, there's lots of food, drink and dancing! The charity works hard on raising money and sourcing equipment and clinical supplies which can be sent to Jamaica.
Where is your favourite place?
My favourite place would have to be Jamaica! It’s just a beautiful island that I always enjoy going back to! If you haven’t been to the Caribbean, put a couple of the islands on your list of places to go. I would love to go on a cruise and visit a few.
What inspires you at work?
The variety of people I get to work with across the business, they are very ambitious and I get to learn a lot that is outside of my every day job. This makes my job very interesting. It is also great to meet graduates that I have recruited to see how much they have developed since joining Mott MacDonald. Providing advice and guidance during the recruitment process and making offers really makes me enjoy what I do.
