Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
Shortly after completing my secondary education, I decided to start work experience at Mott MacDonald. The whole team made me feel really welcomed and were very supportive in showing me the different aspects of the trade. I wanted to grab the opportunity I'd been given by accepting a role as an apprentice.
I have now completed my first year with Mott MacDonald, and I have learned multiple skills that I can effectively apply in the day of a quantity surveyor. I understand that Mott MacDonald can bring working professionals from various backgrounds and cultures, and provide the opportunity for staff to achieve their ambitions.
What is the best thing about your role?
My role offers many educational values which I feel have boosted my overall confidence within the working environment. The best thing about my role are the opportunities that I have been given. I have been trusted with multiple pieces of work and various projects which has really given me the opportunity to focus on different aspects of work and thoroughly understand different tasks carried out under a contract.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
The culture of Mott MacDonald offers acceptance whilst also shining in professional excellence. The working environment is friendly and is always open to different initiatives and supports any questions within the working platform.
How many years have you worked for Mott MacDonald, and what has been your proudest achievement to date?
I have now been working at Mott MacDonald for one year, the first of many! My greatest achievement has been being moved to Kew Gardens to show my value towards a team and a well known project.
I’ve also been given the opportunity to become a certified first aider and have contributed to information given in our health and safety briefings. I’m proud that I now have the ability to help anyone in need, at work or in my everyday life.
What has been your favourite Mott MacDonald social event?
The Mott MacDonald sports and social events encourage teams to get together outside the working environment and to build rapport with their colleagues. My favourite social so far has to be ‘bounce ping pong’, where your whole team competes against each other in rallies in a UV lit environment with great atmosphere and music.
What is your hidden talent?
My hidden talent is horse riding. I have been an equestrian for 12 continuous years and my favourite part of the sport is definitely show jumping! I have competed in various cross country and show jumping events. I have three of my own horses named Tigger, Donald, and Lily.
What inspires you at work?
My work is continuously motivating me to achieve my personal best, I enjoy being given tasks and then given the right recognition when the job has been completed, this motivates me to do well and to always try my best and provides a sense of satisfaction.
