Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
A close friend who worked for Mott MacDonald in Qatar persuaded me to come. The role was challenging so I left my previous company and relocated all my family to Qatar to join Mott MacDonald.
What is the best thing about your role?
The daily interaction with clients and the adrenaline of the average working day. The fact that there are about 16,000 people behind your back to support you makes you walk with confidence in front of the client.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Diverse and multinational. The big scale of projects in Qatar and their complexity makes me interact with many Mott MacDonald teams across the world. It is interesting to see how all these different cultures come together to produce an end product that satisfies the client.
How many years have you worked for Mott MacDonald, and what has been your proudest achievement to date?
I have worked for Mott MacDonald for six years now. The proudest achievement was when one of the design and build projects I managed at tender design was awarded to the contractor and we are now carrying out the detailed design. The construction value is £1bn and Mott MacDonald played a big part in this accomplishment by optimising the tender design for the contractor.
What is the best thing about the country you live in?
The fact that even though there is so much construction going on and so many projects being developed, the country is still keeping its Arabic origin and culture. Other cities in the Middle East have been modernised so much that they have lost the Arabic feel.
Where is your favourite place?
My favourite place is back in Greece in a small city where we have a caravan in a camping site and go there every year. There is a fantastic blue water beach in front of the caravan and there is freedom for our kids to play without worrying – like the good old days when we were kids.
