Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
The incredible team! I work with a multidisciplinary team across transport planning and behaviour change who are incredibly specialised and renowned globally, this means we continue to get interesting and highly regarded roles and opportunities. My practice of community and stakeholder engagement has been a great fit for an already successful team and I primarily work within a proactive and positive engagement space, which is very enjoyable.
What is the best thing about your role?
Working with a highly experienced and specialist team on very meaningful engagement work.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Innovative and connected globally across all offices.
How has your career progressed at Mott MacDonald?
I have been with Mott MacDonald for just over a year, I have moved into the advisory team and my team is growing (now at three)!
What makes Mott MacDonald stand out from other companies?
The UK foundation provides a lot of learning and opportunities for capacity building in the Australia and New Zealand offices. I have personally learnt a lot from the UK transport planning team who have been supporting the Sydney office. This has been fundamental to building our capabilities and importantly, meeting the needs of our Sydney clients.
Are you involved with any charities or do any volunteer work?
I volunteer at Wayside Chapel in Kings Cross, Sydney, a drop-in centre for the homeless and those on the brink of homelessness. This is an example of incredibly raw community and stakeholder engagement. This role has helped me to focus on the importance of listening, providing support and space for those that need it, and to negotiate challenging situations.
Where is your favourite place?
Byron Bay in New South Wales is a special place to me. I am a yoga instructor and enjoy practicing here, there is incredible food, always live music, good beer and stunning nature to appreciate!
What inspires you at work?
My team (always approaching challenges with a good sense of humour and incredible work ethic/capabilities), great clients, good leadership, and support to continue to learn and develop.
