Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
Being a quantity surveyor for building projects for more than 17 years, I joined Mott MacDonald because I want to explore my career profile in civil projects.
What is the best thing about your role?
As a quantity surveyor, I provide cost management services to our projects. I can use my knowledge and sensitivity on figures to inspire our team to manage the projects in a more cost effective manner.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Mott MacDonald has an open culture, enabling us to express our opinions. We are encouraged to exchange our ideas with other colleagues in different areas of the business.
How has your career progressed at Mott MacDonald?
Since joining I have been encouraged to take on more responsibility on business development and within a year I was placed in a senior management role. I have been able to get involved in different types of building and civil projects, and financial management.
How many years have you worked for Mott MacDonald, and what has been your proudest achievement to date?
I have been working at Mott MacDonald for one and a half years. My proudest achievement at this moment is to set up a more effective work flow for a large project and achieve the client’s requirements in a more cost effective manner.
Are you involved with any charities or do any volunteer work?
I make regular donations to support animal care and childcare organisations. I also take my daughters to join in with the volunteer work because I want to be a role model and inspire them to care for and help minority social groups.
Where is your favourite place?
My hometown, Hong Kong, is my favourite place. I love to travel but none can compare!
What inspires you at work?
My inspiration comes from my colleagues. Being a part of the professional quantity surveying team, we are responsible for helping clients to tackle challenging issues and to enhance the smoothness of the projects.
