Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
I could see how Mott MacDonald respects and values each and every employee. The concern for the staff is what impresses me. As a recent graduate, the opportunity to work in a multinational group helped me to grow professionally.
What is the best thing about your role?
Working with a multidisciplinary team. It is amazing to work with specialists from different areas for a common goal, I’ve learned a lot with them. Also, working as an environmental consultant gives me the opportunity to play a part in finding solutions to environmental and sustainability issues.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
I think the essence of a company culture is mainly expressed in the way it treats the customers and employees. Since I started to be part of the Mott MacDonald team I could see that. The culture here encourages you to grow. So if you are creative, driven by innovation and always thinking “outside the box”, you get recognised and this is great.
What is the best thing about the country you live in?
This is a difficult question to answer, mainly due to climatic variety and biological diversity of the country, which makes both the coast and the interior of the country wonderful. So I think I’m going to pick the nature, especially in Rio de Janeiro where I live. Besides, I also have to mention the warmth, kindness and happiness of Brazilian people, unique worldwide.
Who or what inspires you?
Nature, mainly after a stressful week of work. There is nothing better than to recharge yourself on a beach or by trekking in the woods. Nothing inspires me more than that, especially in the company of my husband. A weekend in contact with nature is enough to start the week better.
What has been your most memorable project?
I know that there will still be many, but in this professional moment I could say that the project I am working now with my colleagues is a challenging one. It is about a proposal to demonstrate the applicability of a new methodology for selecting Environmental Valued Components (EVCs) sensitive to oil spills. This is an internal project and will involve all staff from different areas of biology, geography, oceanography and chemistry. Like I said before it is a challenging project in which, as a lead author, I matured a lot as a professional.
