Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
The reputation of a multi-national, multi-sector management consultancy attracted me initially, and then at the assessment day the company’s culture really shone through. The assessors really wanted to get to know the real you, not just whether you would fit in, but what really mattered to you. The teams that I met on the day were so enthusiastic and passionate about the projects they were delivering I really wanted to be a part of Mott MacDonald, and I am delighted to say I now am.
What is the best thing about your role?
The diversity of the projects I have the opportunity to work on. Mott MacDonald has a reputation in so many sectors that the projects we deliver are really very different, meaning you develop a new skill set as required and constantly expand your knowledge base. This is fantastic as it always keeps you on the ball and wanting more, helping a client with a challenge one day, then delivering a workshop on an entirely different topic the next.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Professional, honest and open. Mott MacDonald adds value not just to project stakeholders and shareholders but to wider society too, and in a very conscientious way. This makes me very proud to be a part of the Mott MacDonald team.
Where have you travelled with Mott MacDonald?
As a management consultant it is very important to work alongside your client for key pieces of work, which requires travel. For me this is across the UK, so at present my home office is London, although I work in Dorset, Manchester and Cambridge. The online processes that we use make it so easy to work from almost anywhere, and that’s a huge positive to me, something which our clients also value too.
Are you involved with any charities or do any volunteer work?
I am founding trustee of UK charity 'Born to Thrive' and sit on a number of external committees as a champion of young professional excellence.
Who or what inspires you?
I live by the adage ‘enjoy making a difference’ and have found that anywhere I can really make a difference correlates to how much I enjoy doing it. If you enjoy what you do then it’s infectious and that originally attracted me to Mott MacDonald. We build highly effective consulting teams with diverse people bringing various skills to the table, then strive to achieve more and more. That is what inspires me.
