Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
Mott MacDonald offers an excellent working environment, intelligent and motivated people supported by strong structures and internal processes, there really was no reason to say no when they offered me the job.
What is the best thing about your role?
Interacting with the growing number of people I have helped to recruit into the business, it’s particularly nice to see the fruits of your labours walking around the office on a daily basis.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Supportive. Whether on a personal or a corporate level, everyone has time for you, and will do their best to help you fulfil your aspirations.
How would you describe your role and responsibilities to friends or family?
I am responsible for identifying the best people in our marketplaces and bringing them in to the business, managing the recruitment process from start to finish, and hopefully acting as an ambassador for the company to the outside world (not to mention looking after people to a degree once they join!).
What has been your favourite Mott MacDonald social event?
The annual Cambridge “cocktail” party has been fantastic both years I’ve been here, it would be very hard to choose a favourite between them… The food at Tattersall’s in Newmarket was incredible, but the setting of the Imperial War Museum at Duxford was equally amazing (it’s a wonderful thing, sipping your drink underneath a Vulcan bomber!).
Who or what inspires you?
David Attenborough, the way he has shaped wildlife filmmaking and framed the debate over our responsibilities to the planet for over half a century are deserving of nothing less than awe and absolute respect.
