Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
Mott MacDonald offers an excellent working environment - intelligent and motivated people supported by strong structures and internal processes - there really was no reason to say “no” when they offered me the job.
What is the best thing about your role?
Making a genuine contribution to the success of the business, by making sure we hire the right people to support our projects and clients. It’s particularly gratifying to see and speak with people whom I’ve recruited on a daily basis.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
Supportive. Whether on a personal or a corporate level, everyone has time for you, and will do their best to help you when you ask.
How would you describe your role and responsibilities to friends or family?
I am responsible for identifying the best people in our marketplaces and bringing them in to the business, managing the recruitment process from start to finish, and hopefully acting as an ambassador for the company to the outside world (not to mention looking after people to a degree once they join!).
What has been your favourite Mott MacDonald social event?
I may be biased, but I helped to arrange the most recent Cambridge office party this summer, and it was just such a good night! Live band, disco, casino tables, giant Scalextric – we’re hoping to iterate it yet better this coming year.
Who or what inspires you?
David Attenborough. The way he has shaped wildlife filmmaking and framed the debate over our responsibilities to the planet for over half a century are deserving of nothing less than awe and absolute respect.
