Why did you choose to join Mott MacDonald?
Being in the tunnelling industry, Mott MacDonald was always known to me as the best of the tunnelling consultancies in the UK. I wanted to be part of it!
When I came for my interview I was welcomed and I instantly felt I would fit in perfectly. I was introduced to the whole team and they all seemed knowledgeable, approachable and down to earth.
At the time I received two offers, but based on what I'd experienced I didn't hesitate to accept Mott MacDonald’s one. Six years on I don't regret my decision.
What is the best thing about your job/role?
I get involved with major international projects in which there are always lots of difficult challenges to learn from and to continuously grow professionally. I feel trusted and respected and I am given a lot of responsibilities.
At a personal level I enjoy the opportunity of working in very multicultural and interdisciplinary teams. The experience is intense, but very rich.
Additionally I get to travel to many interesting places around the world. Due to my Latin roots I particularly enjoy the trips to South America.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
A Robust and trustworthy consultancy. Multidisciplinary and focused on professional excellence.
What project are you currently working on?
I am currently working as design manager on Crossrail in London. Mott MacDonald is designing all the shotcrete lined tunnels along the biggest European project currently on-going. We have a big team working in four different offices and three countries. Keeping on top of the construction programme and achieving very tight deadlines is stressful, but feeds me with the adrenaline required by such a challenging and demanding project.
When you’re not in the office where can you be found?
I am constantly on the go! My social calendar with the kids, events, visitors, etc is forever full.
If you were to live anywhere, where would it be?
I would give Brazil a go. I love the language, the culture and the people. It seems like a happening place at the moment and I enjoy being at the heart of the action.
