We’re one of the largest employee owned companies. Being employee-owned allows us to choose the work taken on and focus on the issues that are important. Independent in thought and action, we do what’s genuinely right, not what is easy either for our clients or the company.
You’ll receive the training you need and you will be assigned a chartered mentor, who will guide you to meet the objectives of your professional training agreement. Joining us will enable you to gain chartered status while working on some of the most exciting projects.
We currently offer accredited schemes with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Transport Planning Society and Institute of Consulting.
At the start of your career you will enrol on the Mott MacDonald Academy, which runs alongside your professional development scheme. The Academy will introduce you to key business and commercial competencies, helping you to drive your career forward.
The Academy will improve your personal effectiveness, customer focus, communication and teamwork.
Summer internships and industrial placements
Our summer internships and industrial placements give you insight into the industry – and our company. Focusing on one of our many sectors you’ll gain valuable experience by working on real projects alongside graduates and experienced professionals. We recruit many of our interns into graduate roles, so a placement can be a great way to launch your career.
Our summer internships are up to 8 weeks placements from June to September and although we have nearly 30 offices across the UK, due to the length of our placements we encourage you to apply to locations where you will be able to arrange suitable accommodation. As our industrial placements are 12 month contracts many of our students relocate in order to do a placement and we are able to provide advice about finding suitable accommodation in the area.

Hear from our graduates
You will be asked to fill in an application form where we want to find out more about you. Here you will be asked to select your sector preferences, and office locations. You will also be sent online numerical, verbal and inductive reasoning assessments to complete.
Successful applicants will be invited for an interview with your future team in the office you’ll be working in. This is a great opportunity to find out about the projects you will be working on, your future role and to meet your potential colleagues.
All schemes are now closed for applications apart from our environment and ecology schemes as well as a small number of individual graduate vacancies.
