Objects needed to align with Environment Agency asset types and be compliant with its standard for strategic or conceptual designs. This supports and enables rapid prototyping, optioneering for decision making and associated carbon and cost decisions. The initial request was to create objects that represented 15 asset types from the Environment Agency Data Requirement Library (DRL). This resulted in 27 fully parametric smart objects for the smart object library being created whilst showcasing Moata Intelligent Content’s platform capabilities. Once completed, the objects would then be made available to Environment Agency staff and external supply chain bodies to use via the Intelligent Content platform.
The Moata Intelligent Content creation team generated fully parametric objects based on detailed specifications approved by the Environment Agency. Additionally, they created short instructional videos demonstrating how to use the components when placing them within project models. These videos and supporting content were stored within Moata Intelligent Content’s library so that users could find them at the point of need, enabling them to fully realise the potential of the smart objects.
Using the Moata Intelligent Content – EA dashboard, which summarises metrics associated with the objects and their usage, shows that prior to launch, the Environment Agency and its supply chain have recorded 2,866 hours in content re-use which equates to a monetary value of £82k since the collaboration with Moata Intelligent Content began. The EA has subsequently signed a contract with MIC as its preferred solution library and we look forward to collaborating and working with them going forward with even greater efficiencies saved.
