Mott MacDonald wins Enterprise Engineering award for its work with the Environment Agency at the Bentley’s Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure
Mott MacDonald has won the Enterprise Engineering award for its work with the Environment Agency at the Bentley’s Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure. The prestigious global awards recognise excellence and digital advancements across the industry.
The winning project established a Smart Object Library to facilitate the use and re-use of standardised design content across the Environment Agency and its project delivery partners, dramatically reducing model development time and enabling rapid prototyping of design.
The Smart Object Library was powered by Moata Intelligent Content, Mott MacDonald’s industry leading digital platform, content management solution and managed library service. Mott MacDonald additionally provided dedicated digital advisory capability at the outset to shape the strategy and development to answer the client’s vision and incorporate user and supply partner requirements.
Since deployment the Environment Agency and its supply partners have recorded 7,897 hours in content re-use which equates to a monetary value of ~£370.5k. By pursuing a new innovative approach to optioneering and design, the Environment Agency is leading the way forward in the industry.
Kanita Dogra, at the Environment Agency said: “It’s great to see this stellar project be recognised at the Bentley Year in Infrastructure Awards, which came about from true client and consultant collaboration. Our hope is that this approach can be leveraged by other UK infrastructure owners to drive efficiencies in project delivery, particularly where object libraries can support the adoption of standardisation, Design for Manufacturing (DfMA) and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to deliver benefits well beyond just the design process.”
