Opportunity
Recent growth in Tarrant County, Texas requires a greater capacity for highway transportation in order to meet the future demand of the area. This includes upgrading existing facilities to current standards and providing a way to safely accommodate the increase in population.
Solution
Our team proposed the use of managed/toll lane systems along the highway corridors, allowing for less roadway congestion and increased ease of travel. We also proposed improvements for the interchanges and segments along the corridors of IH 820, IH 35W, and SH 183.
Outcome
The project was completed in segments and was successful in creating a safe and accessible method of travel, with toll lanes to ease the burden of a growing population. The 17-mile (27-kilometer) project was completed on time and within budget.
