Why did you decide to join Mott MacDonald?
Mott MacDonald is an exciting, global, innovative and diverse company with an outstanding reputation. I felt very confident that the organisation would provide me with a huge range of opportunities to further my career. So far my high expectations have been more than met.
What is the best thing about your role?
The best thing about my role is that each day is completely different as there is a huge variety of work. I really like that you are encouraged to be involved in various projects even if you are new to the organisation. There is a great emphasis on ensuring that you are updated on any legislative changes that the government is introducing. For example, I went to a shared parental leave seminar only a couple of weeks after I started working for Mott MacDonald.
How would you describe the culture of Mott MacDonald?
I would describe the culture of Mott MacDonald as an open and friendly place to work. I have felt extremely welcomed and everyone is very polite. I have never worked anywhere where everyone religiously holds the door for each other!
What is one thing you’ve found out about Mott MacDonald from working here that you think everyone should know?
Everyone should know that Mott MacDonald provides new starters with an exceptional induction programme. I feel this is essential to a new starter in any organisation. I have felt completely settled and supported since I first walked through the doors of Mott MacDonald. I was given a clear induction timetable for my first few weeks and was assigned a buddy who is essentially there to help guide you through your work and the person you can ask the ‘silly questions’. I particularly enjoyed the team lunch, which is part of the induction, as it enabled me to get to know my colleagues outside the office environment.
When you’re not in the office where can you be found?
I try and spend as much time as I can outdoors doing anything from lazing on the beach to swimming in the sea or relaxing in a pub garden.
If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you would buy?
I would treat myself, friends and family to a lavish holiday in the Caribbean and maybe buy a small island in the Pacific to have a calm place to think about how to spend my money!
