Moata

How do you see the unseen? Moata — our cloud-based analytics and visualization service — shows you more. The outcome? Solutions that give real social, economic and environmental results.

In Auckland, Moata is now driving over $6 million in critical asset renewal projects.

The future is connected. Data is changing the way we look at the world.

Moata is our digital twin platform, hosting solutions that use the power of data to solve today's most pressing infrastructure problems. It is open, secure, scalable, and adaptable, delivering predictive power in a geospatial context through advanced analytics and machine learning.

Moata hosts solutions from Mott MacDonald and our ecosystem partners — and can host solutions developed by our enterprise partners too.

Moata provides real-time insight into asset performance to enable predictive maintenance and better decision-making. It's about turning data into information, giving you the confidence to take action.

Moata enables all this:

  • Advanced and custom analytics, including genetic algorithms
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Codified engineering
  • Connection between deep and trusted domain experience to leading digital expertise
  • Geospatial collaboration
  • Human-digital-physical interface
  • Internet of Things real-time data capture and feedback
  • Machine learning
  • Seamless integration of partners technology
  • Secure and scalable cloud architecture
  • Visualizations

Reimagining Auckland's water assets

In Auckland, New Zealand, the city council depended on a paper-based system and audits of thousands of as-built drawings and CCTV videos to design renewal plans. Moata was brought in to digitize the entire management system and is now driving over $6 million (NZ$10 million) in critical asset renewal projects.

Using sensors installed at critical points of the water or wastewater network, Moata collects real-time information on flow rates, water levels, and pressures. This is combined with core asset information and performance data sourced from BIM and GIS models, asset management systems, hydraulic models, and external sources such as SCADA systems and CCTV.

Real-time asset data provides an understanding of current performance, while data storage provides access to historic data, replacing the paper-based tracking system.
