ITS Consultant

Job Profile

Transport technology services is a successful sub-division of Mott MacDonald, it provides consultancy services and delivers and maintains high-quality transport technology solutions and innovative systems. Our work covers all aspects from concept, feasibility, design, delivery, maintenance, training and operations.

We are seeking a candidate to work as an ITS consultant. This is very much an outward facing role, which will blend the development of prospects with project delivery. Success in the role will provide the opportunity to lead a growing team. The role can be based at any of the following locations: Birmingham, Bristol or Southampton

Job Description

You will be a proven consultant with a track record of ITS projects.
In the role you will be working in the UK and potentially abroad and so will have a broad understanding of proven and developing technologies across the Transport arena together with their application to meet client needs.
Previous work within the UK will have been across one or more of the following: Department for Transport, Highways England, local authorities and the private sector which will have ensured a detailed understanding of their requirements and proven means to meet them.
The role will be based from our, Birmingham, or possibly Bristol office potentially with travel abroad, as may be required, to deliver work secured.
As the ITS consultant you can be expected to act as project manager, or to provide specialist technical support to the other projects being delivered by the wider team.

Candidate Specification

Your skills profile should include:
  • Track record of the successful delivery of ITS schemes
  • Proven industry experience of ITS systems and/or consultancy
  • Ability to develop relationships and engender trust with clients and partners
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong sense of initiative
  • Flexibility in working location / country
  • Customer facing
  • Team player
  • Experience of working with Highways England and UK local authorities or equivalent
  • Development of winning proposals
Your academic background will consist of:
  • Chartered Engineer (working towards or equivalent)
  • BEng / BSc (in engineering or related subject)
It would be desirable but not essential if you are a Prince2 Practitioner
