Job Description

Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Leading a variety of modelling projects across Mott MacDonald’s Modelling Stream typically acting as project manager or project director with responsibility for technical and commercial delivery
  • Responsible for the assurance of outputs for compliance with internal quality requirements and industry best practice
  • Develop and grow your team in line with the Mott MacDonald Modelling Stream’s business plan
  • Undertake business development activities including leading and delivering winning proposals and contributing to business activities across the division
  • Responsible for the leadership of professional excellence activities for the London modelling team

Candidate Specification

You must have considerable and proven experience and success in Transport Modelling project delivery, including commercial and financial management, business development and people management.

You will be committed to providing high quality, affordable and innovative solutions and advice to clients and have first class report writing, project management, people management, supervisory, communication and technical ability.
  • Numerate degree (or equivalent) ideally in a transport related discipline. Further MA/MSc qualifications are of benefit but not essential
  • Skilled in leading and managing major modelling projects and in the development of robust models to support decision-making
  • Substantial experience in transport modelling, model development and skills transfer to more junior team members
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of leading and growing teams
  • Experience of leading successful business development activities
  • A history of innovation and involvement in external professional activities
  • Strong understanding of the wider transport planning/engineering environment
  • Experience in variable demand modelling and forecasting (respecting WebTAG guidance)
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following systems: VISUM, SATURN, CUBE, EMME is essential
  • Geographic information system (GIS) expertise (MAPINFO and ARCINFO) will be of considerable value
  • Knowledge of microsimulation software such as VISSIM, PARAMICS, AIMSUM would be of benefit but not essential
