Job Description

We are hiring a Systems Integration Engineer to be based in Seattle, WA.

Systems Integration Engineer
Under general direction, directs, manages, supervises, and administers Light Rail
systems engineering and civil/systems integration engineering including communications and control systems, signaling, OCS, traction power, light rail vehicles, ticket vending machines,; manages and oversees the design of systems engineering and the integration of civil and systems contracts including design document preparation; coordinates with the civil and structural design efforts, architectural design efforts, IT initiatives, contracts, construction management, operations, and safety and security to provide complex technical analysis and recommendations regarding design, construction, and operational issues.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, or closely related field and eight years of experience in managing civil/systems engineering programs, design and operations of light rail systems and civil integration, electrical/electronic design, and specialized design and operation of vehicles and systems that includes four years of staff supervisory, budgetary, and management responsibility; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge of:
•Operations, services, and activities of assigned division programs and functional areas.
•Principles and standards of design and operations in a highly and technically complex area of light rail systems engineering and integration of civil design with systems engineering.
•Design and operations of light rail electrical, communications, vehicle and traction systems.
•Industrial and electrical engineering practice and system design and testing.
•Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
•Advanced principles, practices, methods and techniques used in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of systems and applications, and of software development lifecycle.
•Procurement, inventory and asset management of systems equipment.
•Preparation and monitoring of contract documents.
•Project and operations and maintenance management and administration.
•Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation.
•English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
•Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.
•Principles and practices of governmental budget preparation and administration.
•Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

Candidate Specification

Required Skill in:
•Utilizing personal computer software programs affecting assigned work and in compiling and preparing spreadsheets and reports.
•Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, management, vendors, outside agencies, community groups and the general public.
•Interpreting and administering policies and procedures sufficient to administer, discuss, resolve, and explain them to staff and other constituencies.
•Managing systems engineering and integration engineering including communications systems, signaling, OCS, traction power, light rail vehicles, ticket vending machines, and design document preparation within a transit system.
•Evaluating and recommending system components, software, management tools and consulting resources.
•Facility design and related equipment and maintenance experience.
•Managing and administering procurement processes and procedures.
•Preparing and administering a variety of contract documents.
•Managing large, complex projects and making decisions in fast-paced, difficult environments.
•Preparing and analyzing complex data and comprehensive reports.
•Responding to inquiries and in effective oral and written communication.
•Researching, analyzing, and evaluating new service delivery methods and techniques.
•Working cooperatively with other departments, Agency officials, and outside agencies.
•Developing and monitoring program/project operating budgets, costs, and schedules.
•Supervising, leading, and delegating tasks and authority.
