Job Description

Our Philadelphia, PA office is seeking a Senior Green Stormwater Infrastructure Engineer to join our Water and Wastewater team. In this position you will take the lead on local green infrastructure projects in and around the Philadelphia area delivering projects. The position will have a balance of design/production and project management. This person will be leading and managing more junior engineers on specific projects to accomplish the group deadline and project deliverables.
  • Outlines more difficult problems and methods of approach for other engineers.
  • Supervises or coordinates several varied assignments simultaneously.
  • Maintains liaison with individuals outside the firm.
  • Identifies prospective clients and takes an active or lead role in the proposal process.
  • Presents contract to prospective client for signature.
  • Maintains good relationship with client after project is finished to assure securing future work the client may have.
  • Reviews and analyzes a variety of engineering data to determine requirements to meet engineering objectives.
  • Develops major engineering projects by exploring subject area, defining scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of concepts and approaches.
  • Assists client as required to monitor performance of contractors.
  • Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more-diverse project.
  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principals and practices in broad areas of assignment and related fields.
  • Responsible for establishing and periodically reviewing time-and-hour budgets and meeting those budgets on the projects he/she manages.
  • Periodically reviews project schedule and progress on the projects he or she personally manages.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  • Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to his or her field.
  • Originates and applies new and unique methods and procedures.
  • Supplies technical advice and counsel to other professionals, and may represent the company in outside discussions and technical forums.
  • Plans, conducts and directs engineering projects of major significance which are highly difficult and complex in nature, necessitating expert application of advanced knowledge in the field of engineering.
  • Outlines design objectives, requirements and design approaches.
  • Calculates design data; prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates and procedures.
  • Assigns and reviews the work of technicians engaged in the preparation of design plans and provides assistance with unusual problems.
  • Uses advanced techniques and the extension of theories, precepts and practices of a specialized field, related sciences and disciplines.
  • Provides training to staff members to further their careers and improve their capabilities for the benefit of the company.

Candidate Specification

  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) required
  • 8-16 years experience in the design, permitting and construction phase administration of stormwater management projects.
  • Similar experience in a role balancing both design/production and other project management responsibilities required.
  • Technical direction of junior engineers and staff preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Must have ability to travel to clients and job sites and be willing to attend meetings after regular business hours.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, or StormCAD is preferred.
