Job Description

Mott MacDonald is currently seeking a mid-level Traffic Engineer to join our Fuquay-Varina, NC office.In this position you will work with a team of traffic engineers under the direction of Professional Engineers with expertise in traffic and planning.
  • As a fully competent Engineer, performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of the subject matter on traffic engineering projects.
  • Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or have overall responsibility for the engineering work on a project of limited scope for traffic engineering projects.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates engineering work involving conventional engineering practices but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements.
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Traffic analysis and microsimulation
  • Traffic demand forecasting

Candidate Specification

Qualifications:
  • BS (Civil) Engineering, or equivalent
  • Professional registration required (NC PE license) preferred but not required.
Experience:
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Traffic & Transportation Engineering/Planning preferred
  • Signal design, signal timing plan development, signing plan development, and/or traffic control experience a plus
  • Traffic analysis and microsimulation experience a plus
  • Travel demand modeling experience a plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microstation, Synchro, Transmodeler, SIDRA, or HCS preferred
