Principal/ associate structural engineer

Job Profile

Mott MacDonald’s Newcastle Office has a strong engineering pedigree dating back to the construction of the Tyne Bridge in 1928, and has been responsible for the design of many of the area’s key infrastructure projects including the Metro Tunnels and the City’s Central Motorway. We have also been instrumental in the design of many of the area’s most recognisable buildings, including The Sage Gateshead, Newcastle Centre for Life, the Central Library, and more recently the redevelopment of Stephenson Quarter and Science Central including ‘The Core’ and the Urban Sciences Building.
We are looking to grow our local office and have a key opportunity to join our team at a senior level.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate, and take positive steps to create an inclusive culture.

We are seeking to recruit a Principal Engineer / Associate to develop new business and help manage the existing work load and the structural engineering team. This is a key position which will facilitate growth in the local building engineering team. The primary skill set required is to be technically adept and confident in structural analysis and design, with the ability to collaborate with design teams to deliver outstanding design solutions.
The role has a wide remit, from winning work, developing and growing client relationships, through managing a portfolio of projects, and leading project teams through successful delivery of structural engineering commissions across all sectors of construction.

A key element of the role is interfacing with other disciplines and fellow professionals in the area, including Mott MacDonald’s building services group, infrastructure team and project managers.
This is a long term career appointment based in our offices in Newcastle upon Tyne, however opportunities to travel both within the UK and overseas are available, and for the right candidate there is true potential for growth and promotion to a more senior role within the business.
