Owing to continuous growth we now have a need for an experienced ecologist to join our team in the South-east, based in Brighton.

Job Description

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of projects across multiple sectors (power, transport, water, urban development). You will be part of a dynamic ecology practice who work collaboratively to deliver ecological support, working together to ensure the development of its members.

This role will suit an ecologist with previous experience in a similar role client facing role in a consultancy environment.

You will be office based in the Brighton office however there will be a requirement to undertake site surveys and attend client meetings. In addition, there may be a need for general ecological support to a range of projects within an environmental team, working closely with other disciplines to ensure ecological objectives for projects are delivered successfully, within budget and to programme.

Candidate Specification

• Degree in ecology/ biology or directly related subject (minimum of 2.1 classification)
• Associate or full member of CIEEM
• Protected species survey licenses
• Experience of undertaking ecological watching briefs on construction sites
• Relevant experience connected with major infrastructure schemes
• Relevant consultancy experience
• Strong report writing skills, attention to detail and ability to write concise reports
• Experience in liaising with design engineers to achieve positive ecological outcomes.
• Experience in preparation and writing ecological sections of environmental impact assessments ensuring that legislative guidelines are met
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in the UK
• Knowledge of wildlife legislation, including planning process and EIA assessments
• Strong report writing skills
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Basic GIS skills
