We are a leading provider of Advisory services supporting International Finance primarily for infrastructure projects. With a global resource base of 16,000 staff, Mott MacDonald can field technical experts for our clients in a wide range of market sectors across the globe. This role is centred in a Policy and Advisory team in our Water and Environment unit and will be providing Environmental and Social advisory services to investors and borrowers working largely in non-power infrastructure. There is also opportunity to be involved in broader strategic/policy consulting which may not be related to international finance.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Environmental and Social Advisor to support the development and approval of infrastructure projects, predominantly those seeking International Finance. This could include leading assignments or supporting the following:

• Due Diligence exercises,
• International ESIAs
• Impact Assessments and Audits,
• Management Systems/Plans
• Monitoring/implementation roles
• Associated activities such as Stakeholder Engagement, Biodiversity Plans, Resettlement Action Plans, Community Development Plans etc.

The role will involve both technical delivery, winning work and maintaining a close relationship with our customers both inside and outside project contexts.

Candidate Specification

You will be working with Environmental and Social Governance within a project finance context. Coming from an environmental or social sciences background, you will also be a generalist capable of coordinating across the main topic areas defined in lender standards. You will have:
• Bachelors or Masters qualification in a discipline related to environmental sciences or sociology
• Project experience in the areas described in the project description
• A collaborative attitude to winning and delivering projects
• Strong coordination and project management skills
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
The following skills and experience would be advantageous:
• Broader policy or strategic environmental and/or social consulting experience
• Experience with lender standards such as IFC performance standards, Equator Principles or similar
• Experience in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa or EBRD’s "SEMED" states
• Ability to operate in at least one additional language relevant to the regions described above
• Previous experience in managing customer relationships
• Previous evidence of successful wider industry engagement
