Job Description

We are hiring a Resident Engineer to be based in Seattle, WA.

Resident Engineer must be a degreed professional in engineering, architecture or construction management. Professional registrations and certifications such as PE, CCM and PMP are highly desirable.

The RE must also have 10 years of construction management experience, including at least 5 years of experience as a resident engineer or construction manager, managing work similar in scope and complexity (aerial, at-grade, and retained cut guideways, stations and parking garages.) Experience working in an urban environment and dealing with a state’s Department of Transportation and local municipalities and stakeholders is essential.
Experience in managing design-build contracts is an important consideration.

Candidate Specification

Required Qualifications:
  • Similar experience on project of the same magnitude and complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with designers, inspectors, contractors, consultants, labor unions, the public, third parties, and government officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve field problems expeditiously so as to minimize delays and claims.
  • Demonstrated ability to expeditiously negotiate contract change orders and develop an effective defense against construction claims.
  • Ability to manage multiple parties working simultaneously on a single project.
  • Demonstrated ability to write professional / technical / contract letters and reports and communicate effectively to the public.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex teams of design-build project management personnel.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with architectural, engineering, and design-build personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contract interfaces (civil, systems, third party private and public developers).
  • Working knowledge of systems design, construction, integration, start-up, testing and commissioning requirements
