An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role Senior Accountant based in our Vancouver office. Reporting to the Unit Finance Manager, you will be involved in supporting the Unit Finance Manager in optimizing the Unit's financial performance.
As a Senior Accountant working as an integral part of the Mott MacDonald team, your duties will include but not be limited to:
Assist unit manager in evaluating and managing financial performance by monitoring project profitability, overheads and producing accurate monthly accounts.
Ensure timely processing of invoicing including maintenance of a billing diary. Ensure credit management focus is robust.
Monitor accounts receivable and follow up with clients and/or project managers for past due accounts.
Provide financial information for projects and overheads for both project and divisional management.
Investigate project cost and invoicing queries.
Processing of staff expenses and vendor invoices
Assist in the maintenance of the timesheet system.
Monitor all vendors invoices subject to PWP to ensure the organization is complying with all contract terms and conditions.
Carry out ad hoc duties requested by the Unit Finance Manager.
Prepare monthly balance sheet, P&L and intercompany account reconciliations and journal entries, prepaid and accruals schedules.
Responsible for monthly close process of assigned areas.
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements as required by management.
Review of all overhead expenditures, investigating entries and resolving/understanding transactions and variances.
Ensuring internal audit processes are complied with.
Provide audit support for year-end financial and tax audits.
Special projects as required.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within our primary markets along with having the following candidate specifications (preferred candidates will possess the following):
5+ years’ experience in fast paced accounting environment; experience within an engineering firm is preferred
CPA/CMA/CGA designation is preferred
Strong analytical and computer skills
Ability to work with large amount of data
Intermediate Excel Skills Required, (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, INDEX MATCH, IFs, SUMIF,)
Good Oral & Written communication Skills.
Must be deadline driven and able to work independently.
