Job Description

Human factors engineer, fixed term contract based in Croydon or London.

Our Human Factors team, which includes qualified ergonomists, applied psychologists and safety/risk engineers, is a Registered Consultancy of the UK Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors (IEHF).
Our staff have experience in working within multidisciplinary project teams and taking a pragmatic approach to ensure project ideas are turned into reality. Team members have expertise in applying ergonomics/human factors techniques, undertaking safety risk assessments, managing human factors programmes and conducting training and research.

This team provides services such as:

HMI design

Workload assessment

Human error analysis
o






Human reliability analysis
o






Wayfinding

Human factors integration.

We are now looking to expand this team to assist in the development and implementation of human factors programmes on UK and international projects.

Candidate Specification

We currently require a human factors / ergonomics engineer to assist with a variety of projects within the rail industry. This will include assessment of signalling control centres and stations locations to ensure good practice human factors principles are applied to re-design options.

The role is based in the London area and will require some travel, occasional overnight stays and potential secondments.

Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
You will have graduated with a qualification in Ergonomics or Psychology related discipline and ideally be working in a
multi-disciplinary consultancy/environment and be looking for a continued career in Human Factors Engineering

Essential Competencies / skills:
• Good report writing, team working and communication skills
• Ability to work independently, take the initiative, make decisions and work to tight deadlines to meet client needs
• Liaise confidently with external clients and colleagues across Mott MacDonald
• Enthusiastic and ambitious

The current offering will be a 6 month fixed term contract with a possibility of contract extension or becoming a permanent Mott MacDonald employee at the end of the contract.
