Job Description

We are looking for project delivery professionals with extensive program and project management experiences with a strategic/technical advisory capability in a range of areas including Transit, Highways, Aviation and Ports to join our Northern California team.

Suitable candidates will work within a team of like-minded experienced professionals and will provide leadership and perform specialist roles on projects for both public and private sector clients, supporting Mott MacDonald’s growing portfolio of transportation, aviation and ports projects.

Candidates should be able to work both independently and within a team, and have significant experience of working on large complex infrastructure projects, including Public-Private Partnerships (P3) and Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) procurement models.
Candidate should further have an ability and a desire to engage in projects with new technology, creating innovative approaches to meet the changing environment in which people and goods are moved throughout our communities.

Candidate Specification

The responsibilities of the role may include, but not be limited to:

Provide clients with strategic and technical advice, including the procurement and delivery of major infrastructure programs and projects •
Support clients on political, funding and technical aspects of project delivery, including program, project, contract, procurement, change and risk management; •
Undertake independent project reviews, including due diligence reviews, stage gate reviews and other similar project governance processes for private and public clients; •
Support client procurement processes, including development of procurement strategies, establishment of bid lists, preparation of bid packages, evaluation of bids and making recommendations for award; •
Perform a variety of risk management services, including the facilitation of risk workshops, preparation and management of risk registers, and supporting clients in the identification and evaluation of suitable contingencies for managing risk; •
Assist other program and project managers in the establishment of project plans, systems, tools and detailed processes and procedures for transportation, aviation and/or port clients •
Prepare technical reports and project audits; •
Lead and/or provide input into the preparation of proposals; •
Provide support to other disciplines and offices, as required, including internal project management (including budgets), supporting business development initiatives, preparation of proposals, and supporting other business initiatives and projects within Mott MacDonald throughout the western United States or as requested within MM Global Practices.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within our primary markets in Northern California along with having the following candidate specifications (preferred candidates will possess the following):

A post-secondary degree in a relevant field; •
Technical experience and knowledge within the transportation, aviation and/or port industries – familiar with both movement of goods and movement of people in various forms (air, land, sea) •
Familiar and proficient with project management processes; •
Experience of various contracting models, and in particular P3/AFP models; •
Experience of projects in multiple transportation sectors •
Knowledge and experience of Risk Identification, Management and Mitigation; •
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of leading and working within a team; •
Excellent written and presentation skills; •
Able to work independently and unsupervised at times; •
A keenness to grow client relationships at the Executive management team level and expand existing mandates; and •
Positive attitude, team player.
