Job Profile

Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is leading player in the UK water sector. We are building a team to work as part of the Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW) capital delivery alliance, delivering a £170m/yr capital programme across the DCWW region. Due to continuous growth we now have a need for an experienced ecologist to join our new team in Newport.

Job Description

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of projects across multiple sectors (power, transport, water, urban development). You will be part of a dynamic ecology practice who work collaboratively to deliver ecological support, working together to ensure the development of its members.

This role will suit an individual who wants to be part of a growth business in this specialist area and help support delivery of ecological consultancy and mitigation works in a fast moving, client focussed construction environment.

Candidate Specification

You will be office based but will be required to attend sites across Wales. In addition, there may be a need for general ecological support to a range of projects within an environmental team, working closely with other disciplines to ensure ecological objectives for projects are delivered successfully, within budget and to programme.
• Degree in ecology/ biology or directly related subject (minimum of 2.1 classification)
• Associate or full member of CIEEM
• Protected species survey licenses
• Experience of undertaking ecological watching briefs on construction sites
• Relevant experience connected with infrastructure schemes
• Strong report writing skills, attention to detail and ability to write concise reports
• Experience in liaising with design engineers to achieve positive ecological outcomes
• Experience in preparation and writing ecological sections of environmental impact assessments ensuring that legislative guidelines are met
• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in the UK
• Knowledge of wildlife legislation, including planning process and EIA assessments
• Strong report writing skills
• Proficient in Word and Excel
• Basic GIS skills
