Job Profile

Due to continuing success, we have an opportunity for a Risk Manager within our highways design division. You have a choice of locations for your base: Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Glasgow, or Southampton. You will be joining a of a team that undertake engineering, project controls on a complete spectrum of projects, from small enhancement works to some of the highest profiled projects currently being undertaken in the world.

Our transportation portfolio is primarily a UK based business working in three key sectors of rail, highways, and aviation.
We deliver programme, project, and commercial management services to clients in mainland Europe, Africa, Middle East, India, and Australasia and supporting other parts of the transportation business across the globe.
Our vision is to deliver major transportation projects as part of a global business and to establish our wide-ranging consultancy as ‘credible’ and ‘preferred’ for our existing and new clients.

Job Description

As the risk manager, you will support project teams in the identification, assessment, response to and monitoring of risks throughout the project lifecycle. You are responsible for assisting with the implementation of risk, assumptions, and issues management procedures. This role forms part of the portfolio office risk function, primarily responsible for supporting project assistance teams, providing at shoulder training to incumbent project team, undertaking risk analysis, regular risk reporting and management of the portfolio risk database.

Some of the key element you will be responsible for:

  • Attend project meetings and capture risks at all stages of the project
  • Help / Lead facilitation of risk and assumptions workshops / reviews throughout the project / programme lifecycle
  • Assist with the development and management of risk registers, ensuring their ongoing maintenance and analysis
  • Track mitigations and report on success of implementation
  • Collaborate with client risk managers and wider client risk communities
  • Facilitate the introduction of client management tools relating to risk management
  • Undertake quantitative cost & schedule risk analysis
  • Facilitate the escalation of information on risks to the appropriate levels
  • Continuingly develop robust reporting for risk within the project and programme

Candidate Specification

Your skills profile should include experience and knowledge in most of the following aspects:
  • Ability to use quantitative risk analysis tools for cost and schedule risk analysis (e.g. @Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis(Pertmaster)); Microsoft Office packages such as ARM, Predict!
  • Ability to communicate risk management approaches, modelling results and mitigation actions
  • Ability to build and manage working relationships both internally to the client and externally with all stakeholders
  • Formal risk management education or active membership of risk or project management professional institutions
  • Experience in planning and leading the facilitation of project and programme risk workshops in regulated industries
  • Experience of planning/delivering quantitative risk analysis for multiple projects,value level-£100s of millions or more
  • Experience of supervising and developing risk management staff in both technical risk areas and in facilitation skills
  • Degree qualified in engineering discipline, risk management or other logical discipline
  • Formal training and qualification in risk management
  • Professional status held with accredited body
  • Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince2, IRM, APMP, CPM)
