Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of Civil Engineer based in our Toronto office. This position is involved with the delivery of a range of projects within the Transport and Built Environment teams of Mott MacDonald in Canada and United States, as well as supporting other parts of the international business.

As a Civil Engineer working as an integral part of the Transport and Built Environment teams, your duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Working with other designers, project engineers and project managers in the execution and delivery of project requirements.
  • Completing the design of civil infrastructure (roadways, highways, rail), alignments, earthworks, site grading, site development, drainage, as well as design and/or coordination of utilities.
  • Interacting with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Ensuring that project needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
  • Connecting and providing support to other disciplines and offices, as required.
  • Supporting the development of more junior staff within the region.

Candidate Specification

If you're the selected candidate, you will have a passion for transportation, a keen eye for detail and a versatile knowledge of civil engineering and the following credentials and personality traits.
  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years engineering experience as a Civil Engineer.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
  • Consulting engineering experience would be an asset.
  • Experience in alignment and road design, as well as utilities design and coordination, and coordination of all related disciplines.
  • Experience of delivering civil infrastructure projects as well as well as having construction oversight.
  • Demonstrated software experience with MicroStation, InRoads, AutoCAD, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and MS Project (a must).
  • Keen interest in delivering projects using BIM methods and technology driven solutions.
  • Excellent communicator (both oral and written) and skilled problem-solver with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount.
  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude, to working with colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments, and
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships with clients and roject teams.
