Job Description

We are seeking an experienced hydraulic modeller with a minimum of three years’ experience to work from either our Colwyn Bay, Altrincham or Liverpool office within our flood risk management team.

The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development.
You will work closely with our teams of engineers and technical specialists to deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage modelling to inform and deliver appraisal and design projects across the UK.
The role will also provide the opportunity to gain experience in economic assessment and project appraisal, or use existing skills should you already be proficient.
There is also the opportunity to manage projects locally (dependent on experience) and take on the wider responsibilities associated with a team leader role in the future, as the team grows.

Candidate Specification

  • Relevant degree-level qualifications (e.g. hydrology, geography, mathematics, civil engineering, or other related disciplines).
  • At least 3 years professional experience working in the UK and in using recognised flood modelling packages such as ISIS/Flood Modeller, ESTRY and TUFLOW is essential.
  • Applicants should be proficient in the use of GIS using ArcGIS and MapInfo software.
  • Chartered status is very important to us and candidates should ideally be chartered with an appropriate institution or at a minimum working towards chartership in the immediate future.
  • Clear, honest and effective written and communication skills.

Other non-essential but beneficial experience;
  • Knowledge and experience of completing economic assessment using the MCM and applying FCERM AG / 5CM.
  • Coastal modelling, surface water and drainage modelling experience.
  • Use of FEH based methods to produce flood hydrology.
  • Hydraulic assessment and design using theoretical / empirical approaches.
  • Project management.
  • Team development and leadership.
  • Tender preparation.
