BIM Manager - Airfield

The position is for a BIM Manager specialised in Airfield Civil Works and Infrastructures to work in the Aviation Team based in Croydon. The role will involve working on a diverse range of projects related to airfield infrastructures and lead BIM integration with other disciplines (architecture, EMP, etc.) within Mott MacDonald and with partner companies and subconsultants.

Job Description

Responsibilities will include but not exclusive to:
  • Elaboration of designs and production of complex 3D grading models.
  • Production of 3D models for roads, runways, taxiways and aprons for airfield projects.
  • Development of alternatives to optimize earth-works optimizing cut and fill respecting project requirements and constrains.
  • Production and coordination of infrastructure 3D models and objects covering storm water, sewerage, electrical civil etc. like manholes, duct banks, piping, culverts, inlets, outfalls, etc.
  • Design of pavement sections, and construction details.
  • Preparation of drawings showing interfacing of different systems, underground utilities, etc, sequencing of works, etc.
  • Develop BIM Execution Plans for different projects in line with the scope and LOD required

Candidate Specification

The successful candidate(s) will be integrated into the delivery and success of the specific functions of the whole project. It is essential that that any individual is capable of quickly establishing credible relations with colleagues, client, senior project personnel and site personnel.
  • Fully proficient working with Civil3D, NavisWorks and InfraWorks
  • Experience working with Revit and Bentley civil packages (InRoads, OpenRoads, etc.) will be also beneficial
  • Ideally the candidate will have worked within a large and/or multi-disciplinary design engineering project thus appreciating the complexities involved.
  • Perfect knowledge of the requirements for different RIBA stages (LODs, LOIs, etc.)
  • Capable of quickly and accurately solving complex CAD problems.
  • Experience working with GIS: analysing topographic data, transformation of coordinates, importing topographic models, etc.
  • Good reporting skills to a range of colleagues and senior managers.
  • Good level and style of communication is an essential part of the role as is an organised work manner.
  • A personal drive to successfully conclude project specifics.
  • Capable of working to a high degree of accuracy.
  • It will be beneficial if the candidate also has experience in the use of Revit
