Senior Drainage Engineer

Our Melbourne team is seeking a new Drainage Engineer to deliver the civil design infrastructure for multi-disciplinary projects mainly in the Transport and Water sectors in Victoria and, where necessary, supporting projects across Australia/New Zealand.

Job Description

As our new Drainage Engineer you will be working closely with Senior team members developing effective drainage design solutions that meet the expectations of the client. You will have great opportunities to be part of major city shaping infrastructure projects such as level crossing removals and major rail projects.

You will have extensive knowledge in the design of drainage infrastructure for multi-disciplinary projects at concept, feasibility and/or detailed design stages. Experience in drainage is a must for this role while water supply and sewerage will be viewed as a plus. Preparation and review of water infrastructure designs, drawings and technical specifications is also a part of this role.

A great all-round communicator and problem solver you will be able to work on complex tasks across various sectors of the business while working closely with clients and dealing with middle to senior level professionals to form great relationships.

Other duties of this role include:

• Working as part of a multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex civil infrastructure projects within budget, timeline and to the requirements of the client.
• Project reporting including progress and finance as required.
• Collaboratively working with other parts of Mott MacDonald as necessary in the development in Australia and NZ and to achieve efficient use of resources.
• Assisting with Business Development as needed to grow the business.
• Mentoring and training of junior staff

Candidate Specification

To be successful in this role:

• Hold a Civil Engineering degree
• Hold, or be in the process of undertaking, professional engineering accreditation (CPEng or similar)
• 5-7 years; experience working in civil infrastructure design and advice
• Proficiency in investigation studies and concept through to detailed design of drainage, sewerage and water supply infrastructure
Highly skilled in 12D software and hydraulic modelling software such as DRAINS
• Effective communication and influencing skills
• Experience in major civil infrastructure projects
• Experience of working in Multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience in storm water quality design
